See Him for who He is, and you will see the life He has given you

Living in God's abundance means you recognize that you don't just have "enough", you have more than enough, you have surplus.  God wants you to see how He works in this way.

How?  You may be saying, "I don't understand how I'm supposed to get there when what I see, what I'm experiencing, is that I don't have enough!"

It starts with your belief, He already provided, you just don't see it.  That's a pretty bold statement, but that's coming from someone who had the scarcity mindset and has experienced lack... and acknowledged abundance and am on the journey of experiencing it.

I spoke with a lovely woman yesterday, who shared her testimony as well, "change your perspective on who the Heavenly Father is, and you will live in abundance."

When you see Him for who He is, you will see the abundant life He has given you.

It may seem awfully meddling to suggest you need to examine what you believe, but that's what I'm suggesting.

I would encourage you, first, to read 1 Peter.  Yes, the whole letter: it's only 5 chapters long.  Read it as a proclamation of who you are in Christ, and an examination of your part in living in trust that He is your Savior and provider.  Are you living as His child, or still in the ways you previously knew- the way you were "wired", believing only in your own abilities and what others tell you.

1 Peter 4:1-2 (paraphrased):  Since Christ suffered in His body and had victory, take on the same attitude, because he who has suffered in his body is done with sin.  As a result, he does not live the rest of his earthly life for evil human desires (or at the mercy of earthly needs), but rather for the will of God.

Just as Jesus was able to endure fasting for 40 days, living as a nomad, and the extreme physical pains of the cross, so God has equipped you with every ability to withstand the physical "needs" for comfort that are temporary.  This is where fasting is one way to experience the provision of God through submitting your physical needs and trusting Him for physical life.  Because He is your creator, has given you physical life, and He is your savior, has given you spiritual life, this is a way of bolstering your own faith.  In the fasting we recognize Him as our sustainer.  No, it's not "fun" or "comfortable", but it's a way of practicing finding comfort in Him instead of earthly provisions.  The miracle then comes in seeing how He provides for every earthly need as well.  Just as Jesus didn't need to accept Satan's offering of bread, as told in his confrontation in Matthew 4:1-11, but was ministered to by angels, so we can experience God's miraculous provisions.  After fasting, we can see more clearly.

1 Peter 4:6-11(paraphrased)  For the very reason the gospel was preached was so that we could live in our physical bodies according to the way God has redeemed us in the spirit.  We can be clear-minded and self-controlled and surrender all things to God, seeking Him for all things physical and spiritual.  Because we live in His salvation and power, we have the ability to extend grace and love each other deeply- the evidence of our trust in Him- for love in action is the proof of the covering of a multitude of sins.  ... In this way, we are able to be hospitable without grumbling, speak with the tone of God, serve out of God's strength, and reflect Him in all that we do.  We are equipped, by God's grace, so that in all these things God is praised through the covering of Jesus Christ, for He has the glory and power.

Read on!  There is no promise of ease, but there is a promise of His presence and restoration.

1 Peter 5:10: "The God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will Himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast."

2 Peter 1:3: "His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness.  Through these He has given us His very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires."

Our perspective needs to align with who God is in order for us to see; again, Matthew 6:22-23.
