Recognizing the source of our financial fears
Foster Care and Adoption is an attack on the enemy of this world, which is the spiritual forces of evil that are Satan's attempts to destroy God's children.
Ephesians 6:12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore, put on the full armor of God!
You have stepped into an arena to care for what Satan wants to be overlooked. When Satan is able to devalue children, tear apart families and find his way into good-hearted people's homes, he thinks he's won. When we step in to offer healing, to be the hands and feet of the Healer, he is threatened, and he will start to pull out all the stops of doubt. Remember your journey into the Family of God. He doesn't want those he's pulled out for destruction set into families, and you are defending those as if they're your own. Psalm 68:5-6a A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling. God sets the lonely in families...
Ephesians 1:5 He predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will
Proverbs 23:10-11 Do not move the ancient boundary or go into the fields of the fatherless, for their Redeemer is strong; He will plead their case against you.
Psalm 82:3 Defend the cause of the weak and fatherless; maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed.
Zechariah 7:10 And do not oppress the widow or the orphan, the stranger or the poor; and do not devise evil in your hearts against one another.
John 1:12 But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.
2 Corinthians 6:18 And I will be a father to you, and you shall be sons and daughters to me, says the Lord Almighty.
Galatians 4:4-7 But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons. And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!” So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God.

Provision Looks Different Than We Expect
Sometimes we expect God’s provision to come wrapped in money or material things. But often, He provides through people, opportunities, wisdom, or timing. We miss these things and clench our fists in the area that He wants to keep working through us.
He provides through a friend who offers childcare when you’re exhausted.
Through a local church that steps in with meals or hand-me-downs.
Through a sudden idea that saves time or income you didn’t realize you had.
When you start to recognize His fingerprints, you’ll see He’s been providing all along.
“Every good and perfect gift is from above.” — James 1:17
Provision isn’t always flashy—it’s faithful.
Trust Grows in the Gaps
Sometimes God lets us feel the gap between our resources and our needs—not to punish us, but to deepen our dependence on Him.
It’s in that gap where faith grows roots. Where we learn to trust Him more. Jesus' parable of the talents was an eye-opener for me. If I consider everything I have as His, and that I'm supposed to do more with what I have, then I am convicted of being the wicked, lazy servant! My lack of trust in who He is, has kept me more afraid of what the world can do to what I have, and close-fisted, holding tightly.... He wants me to continue to be generous, and be open-minded to how He wants me to multiply.
He has revealed to Chris and I ways to start multiplying what we had been "saving" to accumulate to be enough... and since we started on that journey, at the same time looking at where we could give more, God has doubled what we had in that savings account! We need to keep being faithful servants, putting His money to work, and blessing the children He gave us as well as those He appoints us to bless.
Each time you bring your needs to Him and watch Him move—whether through a check in the mail or a calm heart in the storm—you’re reminded: you’re not the provider; He is.
“The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing.” — Psalm 34:10
Reflection & Prayer
Reflection Questions:
When you think about your family’s needs, who do you tend to rely on first—yourself or God?
Can you recall a time God provided for you in an unexpected way?
What would change in your heart if you truly believed that God lacks nothing—and neither do you?
Prayer:
Father, thank You for being our Provider. You see every need before we do, and Your faithfulness never fails. Teach us to look to You as our Source, not our circumstances. Help us trust You when we can’t see the outcome and rest in Your promise that we will lack no good thing. We choose to depend on You today. In Jesus’ name, amen.
