Living this Christian Life as a Romans 12 woman

Romans 12:10  Honor one another (above yourself/take focus off self.  When I am not so self-focused and comparing but rather choose to be content in my own creation in His image).

v 11 Never be lacking in zeal- keep spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.  How do I get so complacent and then complain(ant)?!  Do the opposite- practice praise and thanksgiving!

v12 Joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer; always seeking God and believing Him I can be.  Lord, help me in my believing to recognize what you're doing and calling me to do.

v13  When I'm believing Your abundance for whatever I have, not just what I will have, which is another form of "not enough" or overlooking my current blessing, I will live more generously.  Lord give me courage to do that; such that I would readily share with your people in need, and eagerly practice hospitality.  This starts in our family.  I can say no to gluttony and too much "stuff" but not because I'm in a "not enough" mindset.  I especially want my kids to see generosity practiced with self-control and temperance.  How to be generous and stay within budget?

v 14-16

  • 14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.
  • 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.
  • 16 Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited

Be compassionate, seeing others as God sees them and seeking first to understand.

v17-21 Always remembering God sees.  He sees the other's actions/reactions and He will set right.  I can focus on His leading.  How does this look in parenting and discipline?  Teaching kids to be aware of Holy Spirit promptings for self and others.  We can choose not to be offended, stressed, hold grudges, etc.  but rather acknowledge the wrong, if it's not repented, of, take note that the other doesn't see it as "wrong" and don't engage in that way again.  Instead, detour, and continue in living out of your overflow of forgiveness and blessing.  Oh, how hard that is.  But practice first with family whom you know there is a foundation and anointing by God.  He brought Chris and I together and our children to us.  In the same way I can consider family of origin, and prayerfully engage.

Lord, help me first with my blessings today, and that we get to have a mid-week family day.
